PAAT MEMBER UPDATE
Sine Die Compliance Reminder

May 27,  2009

PAAT Members

As we head into the final days of the session, many of you may have the opportunity to participate in expenditures with others and we want to bring to your attention a few of the compliance tips we’ve sent in the past that are oldies but goodies.

End of Session Expenditures

You need to keep a few practical rules in mind:

  1. Don’t split any expenditure with a non-registrant, including a company that is not actually registered as a lobbyist.  If you have to ask why, be sure and read below.  But it is easier just not to do it.
  2. Be there. Presence is more than a wave and a nod.
  3. If you cross the detail reporting threshold, make sure you report it.
  4. Remember to get the names of guests of the member or staffer for your records.  You have to report expenditures for that class of recipients, and it is smart to have verification of your reports.
