Biography

Curtis Seidlits, founder, president and CEO of Focused Advocacy, is one of Austin’s premiere government relations and lobby strategists and a trusted advisor to leaders at the highest levels of business, government and politics. Through his leadership, Seidlits guides the overall vision and strategy of Focused Advocacy and provides high-level strategic guidance to all clients of the firm. Before founding Focused Advocacy, Seidlits served as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for Energy Future Holdings, formerly TXU Corp. In that role he oversaw the company’s state and federal government relations programs, as well as political action committees and other public outreach efforts. Prior to joining TXU, Seidlits was the president and CEO of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas. As a former legislator and chairman of the House State Affairs committee, Seidlits directed the legislative process for numerous issues ranging from ethics and tort reform to utility regulation, public information and purchasing laws. Among other major contributions, Seidlits sponsored legislation that substantially rewrote and modernized Texas’ electric utility and telecommunications regulations. Curtis has served on a number of boards and policy committees including Association of Electric Companies of Texas, Texas Association of Business, Texas Taxpayers and Research Association and Texas Civil Justice League. Seidlits earned both his law degree and bachelor’s degree in political science from Baylor University. He began his legal career as a prosecutor and spent nearly twenty years in private legal practice.
