Biography

Nobody enjoys his work more than Bill Pewitt. He eats, drinks and breathes politics and enjoys every minute of it. It shows. For the last twenty-five years, Bill has been a fixture at the Texas Capitol, representing an array of clients from the worldwide technology company Accenture to the Texas Association for Home Care, a large group of community care providers in the state. Bill handles business for the Municipal Justice Bar Association of Texas, whose activities include code of criminal procedure and penal code, as well as the Texas Licensed Child Care Association, who are owners and operators of day care centers in Texas. Bill has formed groups from the ground up, including the Texas Computer Industry Council that was a feature Texas Monthly story in Austin's technology heyday in the early 80s. Often first to cite a trend, Bill is able to steer clients away from dead ends toward a direction where he foresees a lucrative future. He knows the ins and outs not just at the Capitol, but at most state agencies where agency rules and procurement contracts are an ongoing activity. Bill has earned his reputation among lawmakers as a wise counsel, but his real strength is his relationships with office staff, which he always treats with utmost respect. Bill realizes that these are the folks who do the nitty gritty day-to-day administration of the laws and rules that the legislature passes. Although Bill handles the affairs of most of his clients on his own, giving them personal attention and care, he also works with other lobbyists and groups. He was affiliated with Penzoil and its fight with Texaco, and also with the ATT team several years ago in its efforts to achieve deregulation.
