Overview

Consistently ranked by members of the Texas Legislature, the media and fellow lobby colleagues as one of the most effective government affairs consultants in Texas. A former state representative, he formed Austin-based HillCo Partners in 1985.

Biography

Jones used his political knowledge and skills to win the seat of County Attorney of Hill County in 1977, followed by election to the office of District Attorney of the 66th Judicial District of Texas in 1979. His public service career advanced when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives, where he served from 1981-1983. Jones went on to serve as Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff to Texas House Speaker Gib Lewis from 1983-1985. Since leaving the House to form a private legislative consulting service in 1985, Jones has been consistently ranked by members of the Texas Legislature, the media, and his lobby colleagues as one of the most effective government affairs consultants in Texas. The Jones approach to lobbying utilizes the meticulous use of voter demographics, legislative voting records, predictability percentages, and other valuable information that is vital to Jones' advocacy for his clients. One of the leaders in a new breed of lobbyists, Jones approaches legislators armed with professional data and solid reasoning to help them make educated judgments on the complex issues before them. This systematic gathering of information and statistical analysis lays the foundation for Buddy's effective representation of his clients, but he buttresses this base by hard work, long hours and political intuition unparalleled in the lobby community.
