Biography

Reggie Bashur is a governmental relations and communications consultant based in Austin. He has over 20 years of experience. Bashur works for a wide range of companies and industries involved in health care, electric utilities, environmental management, economic development and telecommunications. Bashur was Deputy Executive Assistant for Governor George W. Bush for the first legislation session of the new Administration. In his position, Bashur had administrative responsibilities and worked with the communications, legislative and policy divisions on strategies and initiatives. He was part of the Governor's team that worked with members of the legislature to help pass the Bush agenda. Prior to joining the Bush Administration, Bashur was a consultant for several political campaigns in 1994, including the Bush Campaign. From 1991-1993, Bashur worked for Systech Environmental Corporation, a subsidiary of Lafarge Corporation, organizing lobby and communications initiatives targeting numerous legislative bodies across the country. Bashur was in charge of all communications and press activities for Governor Clements from October 1985 to August 1989. Bashur then served as campaign manager for Gubernatorial Candidate Kent Hance in 1990. Following the primary election, he became communications director for Republican Gubernatorial Nominee Clayton Williams. Bashur worked in Washington, D.C. from August 1983 to October 1985, as a press secretary and policy director for then U.S. Senator Gordon Humphrey, R-N.H. During the 1984 campaign, Bashur also worked on Humphrey's successful re-election effort. Bashur was in corporate communications as an account executive for Hill & Knowlton, Inc., in the Chicago and Pittsburgh offices of the firm, from January 1981 to August 1983. Bashur worked as a news reporter for several years with Dix Newspapers of Ohio. He also worked as press secretary for the Ohio Republican Senate Caucus, from May 1979 to January 1981. Bashur is a 1974 graduate of Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He received a Master's Degree in History from Villanova University in 1976, and a Master's Degree in Journalism from Ohio State University in 1977.
