Tuesday, July 1st was the effective date of the new rule relating to Total Political Contributions Maintained. Link to text of rule.

Monday, July 7th is the deadline for filing monthly PAC reports. Make sure you have upgraded to the latest version of the software (3.3.6).

Thursday, July 10th is the deadline for filing lobby reports. Make sure you have upgraded to the new version of the software (2.3.0).

Tuesday, July 15th is the semi-annual report deadline for filing political reports, including reports for PACs not filing on a monthly basis. The report covers the period ending June 30th. Link to Commission site regarding who has to file.

Future Dates:

Friday, August 15th is the next scheduled meeting of the Texas Ethics Commission.

Thursday, November 13th is the 4th Annual PAAT Ethics Compliance Institute.

Saturday, December 13th is the last day for certain candidates and officeholders to accept contributions before the 2009 Legislative Session.

Please notice one of the exceptions to filing a Form 8871 to register as a political organization with the IRS is that the organization reasonably expects its annual gross receipts to always be less than $25,000. If you have not filed the Form 8871 under this exception, please be aware that when you intend to exceed this threshold, your organization must register with IRS by filing the form.
